The grant of $600,000 will help support the work of the research consortium for mineral exploration (Consortium de recherche en exploration minérale, or CONSOREM).

The allocation of $2,800,000 in financial assistance by the Québec government to the industrial research centre COREM will help support its activities in the area of research and technological development for the mining industry. The financial assistance is granted for the years 2015‑2016, 2016‑2017 and 2017‑2018.

The Strategic Vision for Mining Development in Québec results from a consultation of government departments and bodies and other stakeholders organized by the Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles (MERN) in November 2014, a tour of the regions completed by the Minister for Mines in the spring of 2015, and the joint work completed with partners on the advisory committee for the mining sector (Comité consultatif Mines).
During the examination of the 2015-2016 estimates of expenditure Luc Blanchette, Minister for Mines and Minister responsible for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region and the Nord du Québec region, highlighted the measures taken by the government to support the mining industry in Québec.

Luc Blanchette, Minister for Mines and Minister responsible for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region and the Nord du Québec region, along with Lise Thériault, Deputy Premier, Minister responsible for Small and Medium Enterprises, Regulatory Streamlining and Regional Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Status of Women, announced that the Québec government would provide financial assistance for two pilot projects commissioned by Groupe MISA, the niche of excellence for the mining sector resulting from the ACCORD process. The total amount of assistance provided will be $869,500.
