Review of 2010 Mining Week

The theme of this year’s mining week was “The Mining Industry: Central to Our Daily Lives.” Paired with well-chosen visuals that spoke to all Quebecers, the theme emphasized the importance of mineral resources to our daily lives. Activities were organized in most regions of Québec—in mining regions, of course, but also in large urban areas like Québec and Montréal.

In today’s social, environmental, and economic context, it is increasingly important to inform Canadians about the importance of mining activities to their quality of life, about changes in industry practices, and about the positive effects of the industry, as well as the mechanisms that have been put in place to ensure adherence to sustainable development principles.
