Using SIGÉOM Data with QGIS

The short course is free of charge, but participants must register for it in advance. Places are limited.

QGIS is an open source, multiplatform (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.) geographic information system (GIS) software. Its use is completely free of access and is now a resounding success, with both new GIS users and more experienced users. QGIS has all of the functionality of proprietary solutions and is a powerful tool for the use of SIGÉOM data.


The purpose of this course is to master the QGIS software while using the different SIGÉOM data formats.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • find and organize SIGÉOM geographic and descriptive data as part of a mapping project;
  • refer to the different layers of a project;
  • manipulate geometric and descriptive data;
  • make a map layout and surround;
  • master basic functions of the QGIS software.

Prerequisites/Targeted Participants

  • New QGIS users;
  • Basic knowledge of geodescriptive data structure.
