This session will be offered in both French and English.

Official statements and funding announcements are usually an important step towards new markets, sectors or uses. While these efforts may not materialize, the green hydrogen and bioenergy sectors are enjoying real enthusiasm from private players. Whether in Quebec or abroad, promising projects are being developed and intend to contribute to the decarbonization of the economy.

Session Organizer : Alex Bigouret, Philippe Thellen et Cynthia Martin (MERN)

Michelin’s Perspectives in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Zero Emission Valley Project

Speaker

Conference details

Zero Emission Valley (ZEV), a pioneering hydrogen mobility project launched in 2017 in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, is the first concrete implementation of the "Hydrogen Valley" concept in France. The result of a joint commitment by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and various industrialists, including Michelin, the ZEV relies on the strong local presence of the hydrogen industry and responds directly to the air quality issue in this territory. Beyond these particularities and its avant-garde character, the ZEV's ambition is to allow future projects to benefit from this experience with a view to setting up other territorial hydrogen mobility ecosystems elsewhere in France and internationally.

Michelin supports this ecosystem approach. The creation of a project company in charge of deploying the ZEV is a concrete example of this approach. For Michelin, this project is an opportunity to create a strong industry, source of jobs and capable of creating new champions. This is also our ambition: to involve other players, large and small, public and private, to work alongside them and succeed together in transforming our world. Because that is what it is all about. Faced with a challenge as global as climate change, we must join forces to find collective solutions.
