Patrice Roy is a geologist and expert advisor at the Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles du Québec (MERN). In this capacity, he develops programs to support mineral exploration and to enhance the value of critical and strategic minerals throughout the province. In particular, he was the principal contributor to the Québec Plan for the Development of Critical and Strategic Minerals launched in the fall of 2020.
Working in the mining sector for nearly 25 years, he has been employed at the MERN since 2001 where he held the position of Director of the Bureau de la connaissance géoscientifique du Québec from 2011 to 2018. In this capacity, he was responsible for the planning and execution of geoscientific knowledge acquisition work for the Ministère for the entire Québec territory.
Mr. Roy holds a Master’s degree in earth sciences from Université Laval. He is a member of the Ordre des Géologues du Québec. He is also President of the Québec Chapter of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) and Director of the Société d’investissement dans la diversification de l’exploration (SIDEX).
