Drissa Ouattara

Drissa Ouattara holds a doctorate in environmental sciences from the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) and a master’s degree in mineral engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal. He began his career as a geological engineer in the mining administration of Burkina Faso before devoting himself to research in the field of mining environment and ore processing. His research work has focused on the management of mine tailings, specifically the transport of cemented paste backfill. In this capacity, he has worked on a number of projects involving backfill for several mining companies. In the field of ore processing, he recently led an innovative project involving the use of pulsed power to process lithium and refractory gold ores at the Industrial Residue Technology Center (CTRI). He has also been responsible for teaching practical work in geology and geotechnics. Ouattara is currently a project manager at the Vice-Rectorate for Reconciliation, International Development and Partnerships (VRRIP) at UQAT.
