Challenge Winners

Last November 20 during the Québec Mines + Energy convention, students from around Québec participated in a range of challenges related to energy and mining. Below is the list of winners for each category.

Energy Research Challenge

The purpose of the “Energy Research Challenge” is to highlight Québec’s energy transition issues and recent developments in energy.

The first place winner for a $1,500 prize in the Energy Challenge:

The second place winner for a $1,000 prize in the Energy Challenge:

Geoscience Research Challenge

University students enrolled in an Earth Science program were invited to enter the Geoscience Research Challenge. The contest consisted of presenting research projects carried out Québec universities. The winners received a certificate of excellence and a scholarship in recognition of the quality of their presentations.

Québec Mines 2019 MINING Challenge

The Québec Mines 2019 MINING + Energy Challenge was aimed at 2nd and 3rd year students enrolled in the mineral technology program and possessing the necessary basics to develop an exploitation strategy. The two winning teams received scholarships.

The first place winning team for a $1,500 prize in the Mining Challenge consisted of:

Québec Mines 2019 EXPLO Challenge

A race against time

Québec Mines + Énergie and AQUEST held another edition of the EXPLO Challenge. Three teams of three students each, representing three universities, had to develop an exploration project in 12 hours. The winning team, whose exploration project was judged the most promising, received the grand prize in the form of a $3,000 scholarship.

The winning team in the EXPLO Challenge consisted of:
