Mining challenge – Announcing the three finalists

In September, Québec Mines launched a challenge for students in their 2nd and 3rd year in the Mining Technology college program. The challenge was to develop a dressing strategy for copper, zinc, or gold ore and present the concept and technical rationale.

Cegeps in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Sept-Îles, and Thetford took part in the challenge. Four teams presented projects:

  • Nicolas Royer, Myrna Ouillatte and Tani Tho (Abitibi-Témiscamingue)
  • Marc-André Ringuet and Aurélie Pandosy (Sept-Îles)
  • Liza Tremblay and Corine Simard (Sept-Îles)
  • Adam Dostie, William Desmeules and Jean-Nicolas Tremblay (Thetford)

The organizing committee has chosen three finalist teams:

  • Nicolas Royer, Myrna Ouillatte and Tani Tho (Abitibi-Témiscamingue)
  • Marc-André Ringuet and Aurélie Pandosy (Sept-Îles)
  • Adam Dostie, Wiliam Desmeules and Jean-Nicolas Tremblay (Thetford)

The winning teams will be announced on November 23 at 11:30 a.m. during an awards ceremony at the Québec Mines exhibition hall.  First prize is $1,500 and second prize is $500.

The challenge has been made possible by Institut national des mines du Québec.
